Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakova's coach has been suspended :
Elena Rybakova, the former Wimbledon champion, has seen her coach, Stefano Yukon, suspended by the WTA as an investigation into a potential violation of their code of conduct is underway. Rybakova parted ways with Yukon last August but recently announced his return to her coaching team. The investigation, which had been kept private, has gained attention following her decision to rehire him. While the specific allegations remain confidential, Yukon stated to the Athletic website, "Definitely never abused anyone."
A spokesperson for the WTA confirmed, "Stefano Yukon is currently under a provisional suspension pending an independent investigation into a potential breach of the WTA Code of Conduct. As part of this suspension, Mr. Yukon is not eligible to obtain a WTA credential at this time." The spokesperson added, "Although the WTA typically refrains from commenting on ongoing investigations, we feel it is important to clarify this matter due to recent public statements that misrepresent the situation." Rybakova is set to compete in the Australian Open this month, but Yukon will not be allowed to attend.
Zukav’s suspension, which began last year, indicates Rybakova's support for him, presenting a challenge to the WTA's authority. Due to the suspension, Yukon cannot hold a coaching license or gain accreditation for the Australian Open, preventing him from being present on the practice courts or in the players' box during matches. Rybakova may need to consider purchasing tickets for Yukon to watch her compete from the stands.
It remains uncertain how Yukon’s return affects Groan Ivanisevic, Rybakova's coach since November and the former coach of Novak Djokovic, who reportedly was unaware of this development. Yukon’s sometimes intense communication style with Rybakova has faced criticism in the past, including from former Wimbledon doubles champion and coach P.
