Victims Call for Public Inquiry Amid Musk-Starmer Feud
Elon Musk has once again turned his attention to the UK, unleashing a fresh wave of attacks on Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and other government officials, accusing them of being “complicit” in the crimes committed by grooming gangs. The billionaire entrepreneur, who has also served as a senior adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, took to social media during the night, sharing his views on the ongoing scandal surrounding sexual abuse gangs in the UK.
Musk’s criticism focused heavily on Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, and Jess Phillips, the UK Minister for Safeguarding. The controversial figure suggested that Starmer, who was Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) from 2008 to 2013, had failed to take proper action against perpetrators of child sexual exploitation, allowing them to evade justice during his tenure. Musk went so far as to claim that Starmer should resign from his position and face legal consequences for his role in what he described as "the most significant mass crime in British history."
In an astonishing and provocative move, Musk also endorsed the notion that King Charles should dissolve the government and call for new elections, seeking a radical shift in the leadership. His social media posts, particularly the one accusing Starmer of being part of a cover-up, sparked an outcry among political figures in the UK, with many dismissing Musk’s comments as reckless and misplaced.
Labour figures quickly responded, with Health Secretary Wes Streeting calling Musk’s remarks “misguided and certainly misinformed.” Streeting emphasized that Musk’s attack on Starmer was based on a misunderstanding of the situation and failed to acknowledge the efforts that have been made to combat grooming gangs. Meanwhile, Health Minister Andrew Gwynne, speaking on LBC, told the public that Musk, as an American citizen, should focus on his own country's issues rather than meddling in UK politics.
Despite the backlash, Musk has continued to voice his opinions, claiming that the severity of the grooming gang scandal warranted immediate action from the UK government. His stance has prompted a broader debate about the responsibility of law enforcement and government officials in handling such crimes, with some questioning the effectiveness of the UK’s justice system in dealing with these heinous acts.Musk’s involvement in the controversy has added fuel to the ongoing spat between the UK Labour Party and the business magnate, further polarizing opinions on the issue and stirring up conversations on social media about accountability, justice, and the role of high-profile individuals in influencing public discourse.
