Researchers have found that consuming an apple every alternate day may contribute to better health and potentially reduce the need for medical visits.
An apple consumed every other day may suffice to maintain good health and potentially extend lifespan, according to recent findings. Research indicates that consuming four apples weekly can decrease the risk of mortality from heart disease by nearly 40 percent. Bananas also offer significant health benefits, reducing the risk of premature death by just under 30 percent. When both fruits are consumed three to four times a week, the likelihood of an early death is nearly halved.
This study, published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition, involved researchers from Yangtze Hospital in Jinzhou, China, who monitored 2,184 middle-aged individuals with elevated cholesterol levels over a decade. The results revealed that participants who consumed three to four apples weekly were 39 percent less likely to die from any cause compared to those who infrequently included apples in their diet. Regular consumption of bananas demonstrated a comparable effect.
