Arsenal Face Major Setback as Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling Suffer Injurie
Arsenal is facing a significant setback as Bukayo Saka is expected to be sidelined for around two months due to a hamstring injury suffered in their 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta confirmed on Monday that the winger would be out for "many weeks" after the injury, which forced Saka to leave the field on crutches. Saka will undergo further tests with a hamstring specialist to better understand the full extent of the damage, with early fears indicating a tear.
This marks Saka’s third hamstring issue of the season, which has raised concerns about the long-term effects on his recovery. Arsenal is taking a cautious approach to his rehabilitation, given the recurrence of injuries in the same area. While medics have yet to put a definitive recovery timescale in place, the initial prognosis suggests Saka could miss a substantial portion of the season, possibly extending into late February or early March. This news is a major blow to Arsenal as they look to close the six-point gap to leaders Liverpool at the top of the table.
In addition to Saka’s injury, Raheem Sterling, who could have stepped in to fill the void left by the winger, is also facing time on the sidelines. Sterling was forced to withdraw from training on Friday ahead of the Palace match due to a knee issue. Arteta confirmed that Sterling will require further tests, but it is expected that he will also miss several weeks. With both key players out, Arsenal’s depth and ability to challenge for the title will be tested in the coming months.
